Mexico LMB

The Mexican League of Baseball (Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, LMB) has a rich and colorful history that spans almost a century. The league was founded on June 28, 1925, by Ernesto Carmona, a sportswriter who wanted to create a national baseball circuit that would rival the American leagues. The first season featured six teams: Mexico City Reds (Diablos Rojos del México), Mexico City Tigers (Tigres del México), Veracruz Blues (Azules de Veracruz), Puebla Parrots (Pericos de Puebla), San Luis Potosí Tunas (Tunas de San Luis Potosí), and Tampico Lightermen (Alijadores de Tampico). The Reds won the first championship by defeating the Tigers in a best-of-nine series.

The league expanded to eight teams in the 1960s and to 10 teams in 1970, when it was split into two divisions for the first time. In 1979, the league absorbed the Mexican Central League and grew to 20 teams in four divisions. However, due to financial difficulties and team bankruptcies, the league was reduced to 14 teams in two divisions by 1982. Since then, the league has seen several changes in its structure and membership, with teams relocating, folding, or joining from other leagues. The current format of 18 teams in two divisions was established in 2018.

The league has 18 teams organized in two divisions, North and South, and each team plays 114 games in the regular season. The top five teams in each division advance to a four-round postseason tournament that culminates in the Serie del Rey, a best-of-seven championship series between the two division champions. The league is affiliated with Minor League Baseball and has produced many players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball.

The Mexican League of Baseball has had many legendary players and teams throughout its history. Some of the most notable players include Martín Dihigo, who is considered one of the greatest all-around players of all time; Héctor Espino, who holds the record for most home runs (484) and batting titles (12) in league history; Fernando Valenzuela, who became a star pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers after playing for the Mayos de Navojoa; Vinny Castilla, who won two Silver Slugger Awards as a third baseman for the Colorado Rockies after playing for the Saraperos de Saltillo; and Adrián González, who won four Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards as a first baseman for several MLB teams after playing for the Diablos Rojos del México.

Playing Style and Tactics

The Mexican League of Baseball is known for its high-scoring games and offensive-oriented style of play. The league features some of the best hitters and sluggers in Latin America, who take advantage of the favorable weather conditions and altitude levels that boost home runs and extra-base hits. The league also has some of the fastest and most aggressive baserunners, who often steal bases and take extra bases on hits.

However, this does not mean that pitching and defense are neglected or unimportant in the Mexican League of Baseball. The league also has some of the best pitchers and fielders in the region, who rely on their skills, experience, and intelligence to counter the powerful hitters and runners. The league features a mix of young prospects and veteran players, who often have different styles and approaches to the game. The league also has a variety of ballparks, some of which favor hitters and some of which favor pitchers, depending on their dimensions, altitude, and weather.

The Mexican League of Baseball is a dynamic and diverse league that offers a lot of excitement and entertainment to its fans and spectators. The league showcases some of the best talent and passion for baseball in the world, as well as some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fan bases.
