Match Preview

In this quarter-final match of the World Championship Kyren Wilson vs John Higgins, sportbooks did not identify an unequivocal favorite, which has some influence on our prediction. Despite the noticeable age difference, the current season has been roughly the same for both snooker players: they both failed in the majority of competitions, rightfully leaving the top-10 of the world ranking.

Wilson has been on a significant decline for an extended period, but it has not reached a deep crisis. At the recent World Open, Kyren performed relatively well (top-8). Although a painful defeat by Judd Trump (2:5) slightly marred the overall picture. This time, however, the Englishman decisively defeated two average competitors (10:1 and 13:6), which allowed him to save a lot of energy for participation in more stressful battles. The athlete has not won this tournament before. Therefore, his motivation is fully intact.

Higgins has won a total of four trophies in Sheffield. However, he is not currently the main contender for the ultimate championship. John looks weak at least compared to Ronnie O'Sullivan. And it won't be easy with the other competitors either. Yesterday, for example, the Scot almost lost to Mark Allen (13:12), being in the role of the chaser until the very last moment (11:12). The athlete struggles to maintain maximum concentration for long, which is partly due to accumulated fatigue.

In this match, in our opinion, Wilson seems slightly preferable. Higgins has expended much more resources on the way to the cup, and we believe that he simply will not be able to withstand another grueling challenge. Victory for the English representative is the priority choice for the match.
